How do I request services from MicroTrain?
All student requests are made through the student portal in the www.theprofessional.me. A request made through the student portal creates a service ticket. It is Microtrain's goal to review your ticket the same day and respond within 48 business hours. If you feel that your ticket has not been addressed promptly, please call or email.
What is my relationship with my Program Director now that I am a client?
Your Program Director specializes in conducting outreach and providing guidance on which training courses will help you get back to work. Each student at MicroTrain is assigned a Career Service Manager who is responsible for getting you Trained, Certified, and Hired! Once you start classes, the Career Services Manager handles all of your requests and questions. Check your TPM account to see who is your CSM.
How do I print my attendance record / Certificate of Completion?
Certificates of completion are available through the student portal. Click on the name of a completed class, and you will be taken to a page where you can print out the appropriate documentation.
I just got a job! How does this affect my training schedule?
Congratulations! Contact your Career Service Manager to let them know the good news and to reschedule your remaining classes. MicroTrain classes have daytime, evening, and weekend options, so completing your training isn’t going to be a problem!
How do I reschedule a class or schedule a makeup day?
Class reschedules are requested in TPM by clicking on an individual class title will give you the opportunity to reschedule a particular class or a makeup date. Bear in mind that unemployed students attending class with WIOA funding may need the permission of their case manager before rescheduling.
Is it possible to make changes to my Training Plan?
Generally speaking, no. Students attending classes at MicroTrain with funding from the WIOA program have entered into an agreement with their WIOA office to attend a set syllabus of classes within a given time frame. Changes are dependent on approval from the WIOA system.
How long do I have to take my classes?
Students that are WIOA funded have one year from the voucher start date to attend classes.The goal is to attend your courses according to the WIOA voucher. If something happens and you are unable to attend within the WIOA timeframe, we will work with you and the workforce system to accomplish your training goals.
How long do I have to receive services?
WIOA funded students have one year from their voucher start date to receive MicroTrain services including class rescheduling, certification vouchers, placement and career services. You can view the voucher start in TPM.
How do I ask for an exam voucher?
All certification requests are made through the requests section in www.TheProfessional.Me. Certification instructions for individual classes are listed on your classes page. Remember that students who want to take advantage of the Exam Pass Guarantee must submit qualifying self-test scores to sts@microtrain.net before requesting an exam voucher.
How does the Exam Pass Guarantee work?
MicroTrain is committed to your success – we have helped thousands of clients pass certification exams. To qualify for our Exam Pass Guarantee, you must complete a certification course, take our practice exams, earn the required passing score(s), submit your results and sit for the industry exam within the required timeframe. What career services are offered by MicroTrain?
The career services provided for students are focused on helping those in transition get ready to be presented to our network of employers. Our goal is to make sure every client is “Employer Ready” within the first 45 days of their program. Being "Employer Ready" requires meeting the following objectives:
- Job Expectations Survey — This helps our Recruiter know what job roles, salary expectations and other as important requirements. Once you complete the survey, you’ll start receiving targeted job leads on a weekly basis from MicroTrain. Students must complete 60% of their training and meet employer ready requirements in order to work directly with MicroTrain’s recruiters.
- Polished Resume — Upload your resume into the MicroTrain portal on TPM. Follow the guidance that our Applicant Tracking System provides to make improvements. Your Career Services Manager will be monitoring your progress. Our goal is to make sure your resume earns a “B” or better!
- High-quality LinkedIn Profile — Attach your LinkedIn profile to the MicroTrain portal. Follow the recommendations you find on TheProfessional.Me website portal. Attend MicroTrain's LinkedIn Workshop, a hands-on session that will help you make high-impact improvements to your profile. Your Career Services Manager will monitor your progress here as well. A good LinkedIn profile will help get you noticed by recruiters quickly!
- High-quality Elevator Pitch — You need to be able to confidently and concisely sell yourself in an interview. MicroTrain’s Elevator Pitch Builder helps you create a foundation for a successful pitch.
When can I start to work with MicroTrain Recruiters?
Students need to complete 60% of their training and meet the Employer Ready requirements in the www.TheProfessional.Me
- Attend the Resume and Interview Workshop — A key part of the Employer Ready process is to attend this interactive workshop. It’ll give you the opportunity to boost your resume grade, and you’ll be able to work with MicroTrain staff on sharpening your elevator pitch.
- Certified! — It’s a fact: having an industry-recognized credential on your resume gives you a leg up on the competition. Complete one or more certifications and add them to your resume and LinkedIn profile!
- Complete your Training — Take advantage of the WIOA program by completing your training in a timely fashion. It shows potential employers that you have used this transition time to improve your skill set and certification portfolio.
MicroTrain’s team of Job Developers are working with Chicago-area employers on a daily basis to place our WIOA clients. Once you complete the “Employer Ready” items on your student portal, they will focus their efforts on getting you back into the workforce!
